My Diet, Week 7 - day 43 Weigh-In Day

Monday 29th October 2012

Weigh-in day!!!

I was really hoping my weight had dropped this morning, when I stood on the scales, after such a disappointment last week. I was not disappointed this time.

Weight: 9st 5.75lbs

Weight Loss: 2.75lbs

Total weight lost: 1st 2.75lbs

Although Dr Dukan says my true weight should be 8st 13lbs (which is my first target) I will probably keep going a little longer until I get to 8st 7lbs, this will give me a good margin for error and lapses when I try to maintain my weight.  I was hoping to be at 8st 13lbs by my birthday, I think that might be a little tough as its only 16 days away, but I shall keep working at it ... and you never know.

Breakfast: Ham, Poached Egg, Cherry Tomatoes

Lunch: Natural Yoghurt (with cinnamon & low cal sugar)

Dinner: Roast Chicken, Veg & gravy

Snack: Cinnamon Oat Bran Pancakes

I spent all morning rearranging the furniture in my living room so didn't actually get out for a walk today, but I'm sure I burnt off plenty of calories - afterall exercise is exercise.

I really must try to get some proper exercise tomorrow.

My Diet - Day 41 & Day 42

Saturday 27th October 2012

Breakfast: Scrambles Egg with Low fat Cream Cheese

Lunch: Left over Chicken Casserole

Dinner: Sheek Kebab, Tandoori Trout, with onions & peppers & Salad (absolute yummmmm)

Snack: 2 x Goji Dukan Cookies, "no added sugar" ginger beer

I haven't done any exercise today, so far, I've had other things to do, however as well as my walk yesterday I thoroughly scrubbed my cooker clean, and believe me, when I say, that had to have burnt off calories.

My Indian takeaway was superb and sooooo tasty. I tried to choose very wisely, the Sheek Kebab is made from minced lamb, which technically is not on the Dukan Diet due to the fat content in lamb, however I decided to have it, knowing that most of the fat would drip off during the cooking process. I decided on the Tandoori Trout for my main meal which came with salad, but I didn't realise also came with some veggies, onions & peppers, both allowed on PV days so I ate it all up and delicious it was too. I know the veg may have been fried or even roasted but after completing 6 weeks on this diet with no hick-cups at all, I felt I deserved it. My OH had a whole Tandoori Chicken, rather than trout and had the same sheek kebab starter as I did.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 28th October 2012

Lunch: Natural Yoghurt (mixed with a dsp of low cal sugar, cinnamon & ginger)

Snack: Chocolate mousse

I've chosen not to take exercise out doors today, it's Sunday, my day of rest. I know I didn't do any yesterday but I have in fact done plenty this week to cover missing yesterday and today. If I feel particularly energetic later I may do something on the Wii Fit. (Don't hold your breath though) ;)

It's my sister's birthday today and I popped over to see her and was very good in resisting the offer of birthday cake and chocolates.

The sticky chicken for dinner  was delicious, tasted like sweet chilli sauce (without the chilli). I think I made too little chicken or too much sauce or maybe I was supposed to cook it without a lid on the casserole dish, the sauce then might have reduced & thickened more to make sticky chicken, rather than chicken in sweet sauce.

My Diet - Day 38, Day 39 & 40

Wednesday 24th October 2012

Breakfast: Low Fat Natural Yoghurt

Lunch: Thick Chicken Soup (contains Oat Bran)

Dinner: Grilled Smoked Mackerel

Snack: Chocolate milkshake

My walk today took me to the railway station with my son again, so similar to other walks recently. A 2 mile walk, over roughly 34 minutes and burning 152 calories.

I wasn't tempted, last night, to indulge in any "not allowed" foods or drink ... and thoroughly enjoyed the ballet.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 25th October 2012

Breakfast: Cinnamon Oat Bran Porridge

Lunch: Left-over Shepherds Pie with pumpkin mash

Snack: Salad

Dinner: Chicken Casserole

Snack: Chocolate Mousse

I did my Wii Fit jogging again today for 30mins which covered 8186 meters (5.09 miles) and would have burnt off 497 calories if it had really been on a treadmill, who knows what calories I really burnt but more than if I'd done nothing.

I went to Pizza Hut today with my mum and daughter and I was very good, whilst watching them both consume foods that I must not eat. I had a salad consisting of pickled beetroot, cucumber, grated carrot, baby spinach, 3 small pickled onions, peppers, 3 cherry tomatoes and some low fat French vinaigrette dressing.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Friday 26th October 2012

Breakfast: Natural Yoghurt (I ended up not having breakfast, my OH did though)

Lunch: 2 Hard Boiled Eggs

Dinner: Kebab Meatballs (I added a little chilli powder to the meatballs, and also made some beef gravy (stock cube) thickened with a little cornflour)

I decided to start incorporating goji berries into my diet as they are allowed during all phases on the Dukan Diet (1 tbsp per day during the Attack Phase and on Pure Protein days on the Cruise Phase & 2 tbsp per day on the Protein & Veg days). They can be bought from the Dukan website.

I accompanied my son to the railways station again today and did a little shopping on the way back, so my walk today was for just over 37 minutes and covered 2.22 miles, burning  174 calories.

I'm still having my 2 tablespoons of oat bran a day & drinking at least a litre and a half of water a day (can be other fluids as well such as tea, coffee, diet coke etc).

I'm going to treat myself tomorrow night and have a tandoori chicken (or chicken tikka) & salad for my dinner.

My Diet, Week 6 - Day 36 "Stay strong", Day 37

Monday 22nd October 2012

Breakfast: Cinnamon Oat Bran Pancake with 4dsp low fat vanilla yoghurt

Lunch: Crispy Ham

Dinner: Chicken Curry

Snack: Low fat Natural Yoghurt

Weight: 9st 8lb (average of several different weights on scales this morning, ranged from 9st 8.5lbs - 9st 7.5lbs)

Weight loss: 0

Total Weight Lost: 1 stone

I did a 30 minute jog with the Wii Fit early today, covering the equivalent of 4.78 miles (7687 meters) and burning 468 calories. I'm also aiming for a walk with my son today before I start work.

****

Well I did get that walk in as well,  1.93 miles, burning 148 calories and taking just over 34minutes, I am quite pleased that I did what I set out to do, exercise wise. Now I just have to continue with a positive attitude and not give up even though my weight loss has slowed right down.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tuesday 23rd October 2012

Breakfast: 2 x Boiled Eggs

Lunch: Pumpkin (Halloween) Soup

Dinner: Shepherds Pie (with pumpkin mash)

Snack: Low Fat Yoghurt & Oat Bran

I walked for a longer length of time today, with my friend and her 16 week Jack Russell puppy, which will explain why the pace was a lot slower than usual. In 56 mins 44 seconds I walked 2.56 miles, burning 191 calories.

The last couple of days the weather has been very foggy, but you do get to see the beauty of the cobwebs when the weather is like that, there's a benefit to everything.

I'm off to the theatre tonight to see the Ballet of Swan Lake, should be a good night, however, I must resist buying sweets or ice cream. That sounds very uncouth, doesn't it, I should be suave & elegant if I'm going to The Ballet. :)

My Diet - Day 33, 34 & 35

Friday 19th October 2012

Breakfast:  Vanilla Oat Bran Porridge, Cup of Green tea

Lunch: Grilled Mackerel

Dinner: Kebab Meatballs

Snack: Dukan Ice Cream

My exercise for today was jogging (using the Wii Fit) I completed 32 minutes continuously and burnt off 460 calories and covered (according to the Wii) 7476 meters, which is 4.65 miles. I felt good whilst doing this activity, not out of breath at all, my fitness level has always been reasonably good so I'm happy with this. I think my body was ready for me to up the tempo of my daily exercise, and with the weather turning rough it's a definite plus.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 20th October 2012

Breakfast: Low Fat Yoghurt with Oat Bran, Cup of Green Tea

Lunch: Thick Chicken Soup

Dinner: Chicken Soup (left over) with added chopped up Yorkshire Ham (my OH had 4 slices Yorkshire Ham with Scrambled Egg)

Snack: Chocolate Milkshake

I did 30 minutes of strengthening and toning exercises on the Wii Fit today, think my sides may ache tomorrow but it will be worth it to tone my waist, think my thighs are going to be suffering too - oh well, no pain, no gain.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow's dinner, roast chicken with cabbage, leeks, brussels & gravy Mmmmmm ...

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 21st October 2012

I'm not happy this morning as the scales are saying I'm 9st 9lbs which is 1 1/4lbs more than last Monday, I don't know what I've done wrong this week, maybe it's doing 2 days P & 1 day PV, I don't know, but I shall revert back to alternate days.

I also tried making Really Tasty Dukan Bread this morning ... Disaster, looked like it was going well it seemed to be rising and looking like bread, but was nowhere near cooked in the 25 minutes the recipe said, after another 10 minutes I checked it and the whole thing had flattened and looked a mess. I think my chickens will enjoy eating it though, so it won't go to waste.

Breakfast: Grilled Turkey Bacon, Tinned Tomatoes, Poached Eggs, Egg White with low fat cream cheese scramble (had a spare egg white). (my OH also had saute mushrooms), plus a Cup of Green Tea

Lunch: Roast Chicken (no skin), Cabbage, Leeks, Brussels, Gravy with Chocolate Mousse for dessert.

Snack: Vanilla Oat Bran Porridge

I didn't get the opportunity to go on the Wii Fit today as it was being used most of the day by others.

Thursday, 18 October 2012

My Diet - Day 30, Day 31 & Day 32

Tuesday 16th October 2012

Breakfast: Vanilla Oat Bran Porridge, Cup of tea

Lunch: Chicken Pate

Dinner: Smoked Haddock

Snack: Diet Ginger Beer

Another walk with my son this morning, only for half of it but better than doing the whole walk alone. Distance was 2.17 miles, in 36 minutes, burning 170 calories.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 17th October 2012

Breakfast: Herb Omelettte, Cup of Green Tea

Lunch: Crispy Ham (ended up not having this)

Dinner: Chicken Curry

Snack: Cinnamon Oat Bran Pancakes

My walk today was slightly under 35mins and I could have gone on for an extra 2 minutes, but I was home and couldn't be bothered. Anyhow, I covered 1.95 miles and burnt 149 calories in 33 minutes.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 18th October 2012

Breakfast: Scrambled Egg with Cream Cheese, Cup of Green Tea

Lunch: Left over Shepherds Pie (yummmmm really love this dish)

Dinner: Fish Curry with Cauliflower "Rice"  (I used Salmon, King Prawns & Cockles as my fish, mainly for my OH's benefit. I didn't give myself any of the prawns or cockles)

Snack: Oat Bran Pancake

I need to do something different with my exercise as I am getting bored with walking on my own, so now is the time to get out my Wii fit board. I shall still do at least 35mins of exercise a day but it may not be the conventional types you've come to expect. However, what ever I do I shall make a point of listing it all.

Today I did 35mins in total. (If you know the Wii fit you'll probably know which activities I refer to) I did 2 (short) sessions of the hoopla, 2 short sessions of the step aerobics, 2 short jogging sessions, 2 long jogging sessions & 1 "Island" jogging session ( "it" keeps telling me I am an expert in running and achieve over 100% every time, I can't say the same for the hoopla & step aerobics ... yet).  I did enjoy doing the Wii fit, quite a bit more than walking on my own, although I do like getting out in the fresh air.

My Diet, Week 5 - Day 29 I've lost a stone

Monday 15th October 2012

Woo hoo I've lost my 1st stone in weight, plus an extra 1/2lb. It helped that my last 3 days have happened to be protein only days, which wasn't intended as I deliberately left Saturday a PV day so that I could maybe enjoy some party food, but that never happened. I'm not complaining.

This week I have decided to do one day PV & 2 days P only, just to speed up the weight loss a little, well that's my intention but lets see how it plays out throughout the week.

Weight: 9st 7 3/4lbs

Weight loss for week: 2 3/4 lbs

Total Weight Lost: 1st 1/2lb

Breakfast: 2 x Boiled eggs with Oat Bran pancake soldiers (Ended up eating them separate as the pancakes soldiers were a little to difficult to dip in the egg)

Lunch: Tomato Soup

Dinner: Shepherds Pie with Swede Mash

Snack: Nothing planned, but my OH has cockles & king prawns (yuk, I don't like shell fish) to nibble on if he gets peckish. I will probably just have more tomato soup if I fancy something else later.

My walk today was inspired by my son, who needed to walk to the railway station, without him going I do believe I may not have gone out for a walk at all today. Still you have to take the opportunities that step in your way ... no matter how small :) the distance covered was 2.17miles and I burnt off 164 calories.

My Diet - Day 26, 27 & 28

I went for an early walk today in the beautiful sunny October weather, I was out for 39 minutes walking 2.05 miles burning 155 calories.

Friday 12th October 2012

Breakfast: Oat Bran Vanilla Porridge

Lunch: Chicken & Dukan Mayo (my OH had king prawns)

Dinner: Grilled Salmon & Fried egg

Snack: Chocolate Mousse

Saturday night is party night, so I'm hoping tomorrow my 30 minutes exercise will be dancing.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Saturday 13th October 2012

Breakfast: Low-Fat Yoghurt & Oat Bran

Lunch: Ham & Eggs

Dinner: Chicken Pate

I have not had time to take a walk today, however I intend to be dancing most of the night at my daughters engagement party, so I think I shall get at least my 30 minutes exercise. By the way my stomach muscles are hurting, all them toning exercises on Thursday have taken their toll, however I am going to incorporate toning into my weekly exercise from now on. Don't want to lose weight and have a flabby belly.

I'm not sure what food will be available at the party tonight, hope I can resist the wrong stuff, but if I can't it won't be the end of the world.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sunday 14th October 2012

Well the party went well last night and I did indeed get at least 35 minutes of exercise, I danced for many an hour.

I didn't actually get to eat the chicken pate I made yesterday so that will be consumed today. I wasn't tempted to eat any food at the party nor drink any alcohol - I was very good. I didn't find it hard really, I'm not big on buffet food or alcohol so it really wasn't a big issue, I definitely go to a party for the dancing. My OH was very good too when it came to the food, I thought he would be tempted to eat loads but, I think, all he had was a couple of sausage rolls, he did have some alcohol as well but we shall see tomorrow whether that has affected his weight loss this week.

Breakfast: Turkey Ham & Poached Eggs

Lunch: Roast Chicken

Dinner: Chicken Pate

Snack: Oat Bran Pancake

There is plenty of left-over food from the party, not much that I can eat though so really hope the kids start to eat it. There was a mountain of chicken drumsticks leftover however and I have painstakingly taken all the skin off and got the meat off the bone and frozen ready for a meal or 2 in the week.

No exercise today, it's Sunday and my day off :)  but ... I have got my Wii Fit Board back from my daughter and I intend doing some exercises on that when I loose inspiration for walking or if the weather is particularly bad. I used to use it all the time so hopefully I can get back into it.

Think I'm over-dosing on the Ham & eggs, so will need to find something different to have for breakfast.

My Diet - Day 23, 24 & 25

Tuesday 9th October

Breakfast: Lemon Oat Bran Pancakes

Lunch: Salmon Fishcakes

Dinner: Chilli Con Carne

Dessert: Leftover Lemon Cheesecake

I took my walk today in Stotfold (the next village to where I live), in 34.5 minutes I walked 2.04 miles burning off 157 calories.

I spent many hours today painting walls, that must have burnt off some more calories ... right?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wednesday 10th October 2012

Breakfast: Crispy Ham

Lunch: Grilled Trout with herbes de provence

Dinner: Tikka Chicken burger

Snack: Oat Bran Cookies

I was out for 37.15 mins for my walk today covering 2.21 miles and burning 170 calories.

There are some beautiful walks around Letchworth, especially if you get on the Letchworth  Garden City Greenway.

Finished decorating the room today, all woodwork glossed. :) I'm not sure that burnt off many calories as I was sitting on the floor for most of it.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thursday 11th October 2012

Breakfast: 2 x Poached eggs, Crispy ham, Tomato

Lunch: Left over Chilli (from Tuesday)

Dinner: Chicken Casserole

Snack: Low fat yoghurt & oat bran

I found myself with little inspiration for a 35 minute walk today, so after a lot of deliberating I decided to do toning exercises instead, mostly stomach and thigh strengthening. I completed the time in 2 sessions, the first being for 21 minutes and the latter for 14 minutes. It's very hard, for me anyway, to do 35 minutes of toning in one go - very strenuous.

I've not put any weight loss stats on here this week, that's because I've decided to try and wait before I weigh myself and then hopefully will not feel too disappointed, as I shouldn't, if I only lose 2lb for the week. Even if it's less than 2lb it will still, hopefully, be a loss, which can't be sneezed at.

Monday, 8 October 2012

My Diet, Week 4 - Day 22 (New week, feeling more inspired)

It's a beautiful morning today so think I just may go out for an early walk, blow the cobwebs away and get back into a positive frame of mind.

I actually lost 2lbs over the last week, which, with any other type of diet I would be ecstatic, so I'm not going to mope that I didn't lose more than that this last week, as 2lb a week is classed as a healthy weight loss.

Weight: 9st 11.5lbs

Weight loss over last week: 2lbs

Total Weight Lost: 10.5lbs

Monday 8th October 2012

Breakfast: 2 Fried Eggs with 4 slices wafer thin turkey ham & 1 slice ham (all grilled)

Lunch: Oat Bran Pancake Sandwich with Chicken

Dinner: Smoked Mackerel

Snack: Low-Fat Yoghurt

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did my walk and wow do I feel better for it. Beautiful sunshine and a lovely autumnal wind, cardigan didn't stay on for long. I burnt 158 calories in just under 38 minutes, covering 2.04 miles. (Am I glad I did this early, it rained for the rest of the morning & afternoon).

I may not get time to blog daily from now on but I shall make an attempt to get everything down when I do get the time.

Sunday, 7 October 2012

My Diet - Day 21 (End to a slow weight loss week)

Today is the 1st day on the diet when I have felt uninspired. I hadn't lost any weight when I weighed myself this morning and although since last Sunday I have lost a couple of pounds, I actually feel a little deflated. And ... then my footie team didn't get a win :(  (they drew) a no win always brings me down.

Sunday 7th October 2012

Breakfast: Turkey Rashers, Poached eggs, Cup of tea

Lunch: Roast Chicken, Roasted veg (carrot, onion, peppers, courgette) & Brussel Sprouts

Dessert: Lemon Cheesecake

Snack: Oat Bran Porridge (I've not had this yet, as I'm writing, but I intend to have it this evening)

I didn't take a walk today, the same as previous Sundays, as I have covered the 30 minutes required in my other walks throughout the week.

I made the cheesecake and although it tasted ok, it didn't quite turn out how it should have. The base mixture was far too little to cover the base of a cake tin, so when eating it you hardly noticed the oat bran base at all, the top was just like lemon mousse. I will maybe attempt it again another day, however there is enough left for a few more helpings, so it won't be for a while.

I've been reading someone else's blog on their Dukan Diet, seeing their pit falls and their achievements. I've come to the conclusion that adding salt to my food could well be the reason for virtually no weight loss this week (water retention), so I am not going to add any more salt to my dinners for a while and see if that helps. I've also been having carrots with my meals on PV days and just realised they are not on the permitted veggie list, so no carrots for a while either.  I've high-lighted the veg (below) that I have at the moment, so I do have others to choose over the carrots.

My OH had a large tub of fat-free yoghurt today thinking it was ok to have, however it wasn't. It was strawberry yoghurt, the flavour came from real strawberries, and there you have carbohydrate, I won't be allowing him to have that again.

Allowed vegetables include on Cruise Phase, PV Days:

  • Artichoke
  • Asparagus
  • Aubergine
  • Broccoli
  • Cabbage, Cauliflower, Brussel sprouts
  • Celery
  • Chicory
  • Courgette
  • Cucumber
  • Fennel
  • French beans
  • Leeks
  • Mushrooms
  • Onion
  • Peppers
  • Pumpkin
  • Radish
  • Salad leaves
  • Sorrel
  • Soya beans
  • Spinach
  • Swede
  • Swiss chard
  • Tomatoes
  • Turnip
Now that I've done a little better research I feel slightly better, lets hope my mood continues to improve & I hope tomorrow I feel a bit more enthusiastic.
